I was poking around on the web, looking for dieas for thrifty eating and I ran into Disney's Family.com site. Listed on this site were "15 cheap dinner recipes" which average under $1.50 per serving. The recipes include "amost lasagne", chicken lo mein, cheeseburger pie, easy calzones, chicken lettuce wraps, fried rice, chicken ravioli soup, etc. While some of the recipes weren't too bad nutritionally, others, such as the "lasagne" clocked in at 587 calories per serving with 27 gm of fat.

As bad as that was (I think it's bad, anyway), what I thought was worse were the serving tips for the various dishes. For the lasagne they recommend opening a "bagged salad" to make a quick and easy meal, for one of the burgers, they recommend "Buy family-sized bags of frozen fries to serve as an inexpensive side dish." For the pasta and cheese they recommend cutting costs by using a cheaper American cheese

I don't know, I just felt like I was getting mixed messages about the whole thing.
